AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

AMBOSELI SERENA SAFARI LODGE

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the glittering Mount Kilimanjaro, the luxury Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge enjoys a uniquely privileged position at the heart of this world-famous national park.

Secluded within a grove of acacia trees, the safari lodge looks out over the golden savannah plains, with uninterrupted views of the mountain itself. Close by are a series of emerald green swamps, which are fed by the melting snows of Kilimanjaro. These, the only sources of water in this otherwise starkly beautiful but arid park, attract huge numbers of wallowing elephants, hippos, buffalos and plains game. Meanwhile, from the prehistoric site of Observation Hill, the sunset over Kilimanjaro is magnificent.

KIBO SAFARI CAMP

Kibo Safari Camp is a luxury tented camp in Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

The ideal location of the camp makes sure you never miss the breath taking morning view of Mt. Kilimanjaro as all the camps tents are facing the majesty of Kilimanjaro. In addition, as you relax by the camp you may have a chance to see the graceful elephants pass by the camp!

OL TUKAI LODGE

Ol Tukai Lodge has one of the best spots in Amboseli, backed by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, and surrounded by open plains in some of the finest elephant-watching country in the world.

Monkeys and baboons roam the grounds, and the dining room and garden terrace are just metres from the elephants, zebra and antelope that stalk the boundary. The two-storey open-air Elephant Bar is an excellent spot for cocktails; head to the upper deck level to soak up the views of the marshlands and Kilimanjaro. The lodge also has an extensive African art collection dotted throughout, and a walkway leads to a large pool surrounded by sun loungers.

AMBOSELI SOPA LODGE

Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, Amboseli Sopa Lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand meters, is Africa’s highest and most famous snow capped mountain. It was this region of Kenya that, in the 1930’s, inspired Ernest Hemingway’s unforgettable stories ‘The Snows of Kilimanjaro’ and ‘The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber’ which were turned into more than successful feature films in the late 1940’s due to their renowned actors.

All forms of wildlife still abound in this wilderness which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, an easy twenty minute drive away from the lodge.

SENTRIM AMBOSELI LODGE

Sentrim Amboseli Lodge offers luxury guest accommodation and services. It is bordering the Amboseli National Park, 3 km from Kimana gate. The 60 luxurious and comfortable deluxe tents and homes are spread out across the plains and offer fantastic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

ELERAI CAMP

Elerai Camp is located in a quiet, unspoiled, unique setting on a 5000 acre private conservation area 12 kms south east of Amboseli National Park at the foot of Africa’s Largest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. The camp looks down onto the Amboseli National Park in one direction and up to Mt Kilimanjaro in the other direction, giving clients what is arguably the best location of any camp in Amboseli.

The camp currently has 12 luxury en suite mountain facing tents and 5 large luxurious lodge style suites. Both the tents and the suites are en suite with the suites also having luxurious baths. The facilities are supplied with hot running water provided by Eco-friendly solar units.

TORTILIS CAMP

Tortilis Camp was designed and built by Stefano Cheli in 1993, the first “Eco-lodge” in Kenya, it won the coveted Tourism for Tomorrow award. The Cheli’s were invited to build a small tented camp on the site by the Masai community. The site had been earmarked for a 200 bed lodge and Kenya Wildlife Service (under the direction of Dr. Richard Leakey at the time), insisted the project was scaled down to a more Eco-friendly size and design.

Tortilis joined the Elewana Collection in 2015, a group of 16 boutique lodges and camps in some of the most iconic sites in Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar, and Stefano and Liz Cheli continue to participate in conservation work, guiding and lodge experience (including the food!) at Tortilis Camp.
